Purchased for long-term storage file recording (recording once a year and keeping in a storage case) when its price was lower than a branded SSD of the same capacity. I don't see the reason to put it in a computer with frequent writes - deletes, especially of many files because as an SMR technology disk it is annoyingly slow. Of course, as a boot disk, it is unsuitable. For less money, prefer an SSD. Much faster and with lower consumption.

It was purchased around Christmas of '22.
Since I changed it, the PS4 was freezing more than the original 500GB one.

Apart from that, I didn't encounter any particular issue at first.

In August of '23, suddenly the PlayStation started freezing quite often, kicking me out of games, taking a long time to enter or exit standby mode.
And suddenly at the end of August of '23, the hard drive crashed,
Causing problems such as,
files not existing,
the hard drive not being recognized until the system was destroyed.

We tried reconnecting, installed a new operating system, the issue was resolved but it started freezing again, until it happened again.

Now I'm back to the original 500GB one,
and I can no longer trust it anymore.

Conclusion:
Buy at your own risk.

Western Digital is a brand that does not need recommendations. I have had a hard drive from this company in the past and its durability is good. The speed of the second drive that I have in my laptop is great. If you load it with an operating system and use it as storage, there may be delays.

Honest disk, silent, good speed. I put it in an external case and use it as a backup Time Machine on an Apple computer. It's value for money at this price.

I have had it for 3 months, I mainly got it as a backup. I chose it over the corresponding cheaper 3.5" mainly because of its size, so it doesn't have weight and doesn't take up space in the case.
However, it is quite slow compared to the larger ones, but I knew that before I got it. It doesn't bother me for the use I want it for. But if you want to use it frequently, it will inconvenience you, so it's better to get a 3.5" one

I have had it as my main hard drive in my tower for 2 and a half years and it hasn't had any issues at all. The truth is I take care of it, I have filled it up to 90% and I usually keep it at 80%. I mainly play games from here and everything is fine. I also did a health check and it is like new, no issues there.

I don't use it to run an operating system, only as storage space. So it didn't show me any problems and I don't think it will.

Entered into a laptop as a replacement for a six-year-old Toshiba 750gb that had bad sectors, and the WD is even slower. With 5400rpm and the new smr technology introduced by manufacturers for cost-saving reasons, the speed has decreased even further and it is not worth it compared to sata ssd drives now that their prices have dropped so low. Although more expensive (about double the price per gb), they excel in speed and reliability. It is not a bad product, it is just outdated.

Although I haven't had it for long (it was purchased on 23-11-2020), everything has been good so far. It's small, lightweight, and quiet, without reaching high temperatures. It's perfect for my new laptop, serving as extra space mainly for games. The only negative aspect I would mention is its packaging, which was just a bag without any accessories (screws for mounting). It gave me a hard time searching for them from my old devices, but other than that, it's perfect.
