Although Poetry does not abolish this cycle, it can nonetheless reveal it starkly naked and turn it into material for poetic use. Lysistrata represents the suppression of the crushing weight of the tragedy of History, and in this sense, Comedy gains its own significance, becoming the noisy antidote to the historical plague.
