The revival of Byzantine art, particularly painting, came to the forefront of visual arts in Western Europe during the early decades of the 20th century, driven by Russian thinkers as well as visual artists who played a leading role in the modernism movement.
We will set the framework for our study and delineate the visual material that will serve as our reference field.
