If your De'Longhi Dedica Espresso Machine is not dispensing water, the first step is to ensure the water tank is properly filled and that the machine is not experiencing a blockage. If the water tank is full, the machine may be experiencing an air blockage or need to be descaled. Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
1. Verify Water Tank:
Fill the Water Tank:
Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh, clean water to the maximum level indicated on the tank. Remove and reinsert the tank, pressing lightly to open the valves. Check for Blockages:
If water is not flowing when the machine is running, it could be due to an air blockage. To try and clear the blockage, you can try running the steam nozzle by placing a container under it, pressing the coffee button and then opening the steam dial. Close the dial and press the coffee button again to allow water to flow through the machine, according to a YouTube video. 2. Potential Blockages and Descaling:
Descaling:
If the machine has been used for a while, it might be necessary to descale it. This can be done using a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for descaling. Coffee Grinding:
Ensure the coffee is not ground too finely, as this can create too much pressure and prevent water from flowing. Group Head Pressure:
The dose of coffee in the filter holder should also be appropriate and not exceed the lines on the side of the filter basket. 3. Additional Checks:
Valves:
Most espresso machines use solenoid valves to control water flow. Che
ck that the valves are not blocked or that the pressure switch is working correctly. Machine Reset:
If none of the above steps work, try resetting the machine to factory defaults. This can be done by holding down the steam button for a few seconds and following the instructions on the control panel, according to a YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dJRk4KgP7U
