Polk Audio has been awarded by EISA primarily as a company that makes speakers for home cinema. The Polk S15 is in this direction, with emphasized bass and hi-res certification in the treble to possibly achieve intense sound effects in movies and the famous U-curve. Before choosing them, I listened to many speakers: Project-Audio Speakerbox 5 (indifferent sound in a good way, played comfortably without bothering), Elac Debut b5.2 (too much bass for its size, more laid-back sound), Triangle Bro 2 (the most balanced in all frequencies, didn't emphasize anything extra), Wharfedale 12.2 (sweeter sound, nice for rock), Yamaha ns-333 (very bright to the point of hurting the ears), System-Audio Saxo 1 (full sound, well-crafted), Acoustic Energy Ae100 (nice speaker, its bass was tight and precise), also Klipsch, Elipson, Kef, Mission, Dali, various models. I only wish I had tried Monitor Audio as well.
I was mainly looking for 5" or even 4" bookshelf speakers because the 6.5" floorstanding ones I had before seemed excessive for a 15 sqm room. As soon as I heard the Polk Signature, a spontaneous smile formed on my face, I liked their sound color and open sound, so they stood out from the rest. Maybe it was just an impression, the bass is excessive to "fill" the room but it ends up buzzing, the vocals don't sound as upfront, the treble is slightly bothersome, overall they are analytical and highlight poor sources like the radio. They are not suitable for rock, more for pop, Greek music, etc. For techno, dab, they have plenty of bass but it's a bit muddy. I experimented and unscrewed the rear base-powerport that emphasizes the bass, but it made it worse because it also eliminates the tuning. I will try a different placement in the room, further away from walls, etc., and we'll see. Do I regret it? No. I forgot to mention that they are very beautiful and have a sturdy cabinet without resonances. If I were to buy speakers again, maybe I would choose the Spektor 2 because they have good reviews, although I didn't hear anything special with my own ears, also maybe 6.5" even though I don't like the bass but it reaches lower and overall the sound will be fuller in the midrange. The amplifier and primarily the sources, the DACs, the audio files, etc., definitely play a role.
If I had a higher budget, I would choose the Magnat Signature 703, the Kef LS50, or the Focal Aria 906. Next time, I will prefer a European company that is passionate about sound and not just money, for example, Denmark, which generally excels in this, or even better if they are made in the EU, like Project-Audio, Focal, Chario, etc. A company that is dedicated to MUSIC

Τα polk s15 είναι σε αυτή την κατεύθυνση, με τονισμένα τα μπάσα και hi-res πιστοποίηση στα πρίμα για να πετύχουν πιθανώς έντονα ηχητικά εφέ στις ταινίες και το περίφημο U-curve. Πριν τα επιλέξω άκουσα πολλά ηχεία: Project-Audio Speakerbox 5 (αδιάφορος ήχος με την καλή έννοια, έπαιζε άνετα χωρίς να ενοχλεί) Elac Debut b5.2 (πολύ μπάσο για το μέγεθος του, πιο laid back ήχος), Triangle Bro 2 (τα πιο ισορροπημένα σε όλες τις συχνότητες δεν τόνιζαν κάτι παραπάνω) Wharfedale 12.2 (πιο γλυκός ήχος, ωραίο για ροκ), Yamaha ns-333 (πολύ φωτεινό σε σημείο που ξύριζε στα αφτιά), System-Audio Saxo 1 (γεμάτος ήχος, προσεγμένο), Acoustic Energy Ae100 (ωραίο ηχειάκι, το μπάσο του ήταν σφιχτό κσι ακριβές), επίσης Klipsch, Elipson, Kef, Mission, Dali, διάφορα μοντέλα. Monitor Audio μόνο θα ήθελα ακόμα.
Κοιτούσα κυρίως για 5" άντε 4" driver ηχεία βιβλιοθήκης γιατί τα δαπέδου 6.5" που είχα πριν μου φάνηκαν υπερβολικά για 15τμ. δωμάτιο. Τα polk signature μόλις τα άκουσα μου σχηματίστηκε ένα αυθόρμητο χαμόγελο, μου άρεσε το ηχόχρωμα τους κι ο ανοιχτός ήχος, έτσι ξεχώρισαν από τα υπόλοιπα. Ισως τελικά να ήταν απλά εντυπωσιασμός, το μπάσο είναι υπερβολικό ώστε να "γεμίσει" το χώρο αλλά φτάνει να βουίζει, οι φωνές δεν ακούγονται τόσο μπροστά, τα πρίμα ενοχλούν λίγο, γενικά είναι αναλυτικά και τονίζουν κακές πηγές όπως ραδιόφωνο. Για ροκ δεν κάνουν, πιο πολύ για ποπ, ελληνικά κλπ, για techno, dab έχουν μπόλικο μπάσο απλά λίγο πλαδαρό. Πειραματίστηκα και ξεβίδωσα τη βάση-powerport που έχει πίσω και τονίζει το μπάσο, αλλά έγινε χειρότερο γιατί ταυτόχρονα εξαλείφει και τον συντονισμό. Θα δοκιμάσω διαφορετική τοποθέτηση στο χώρο πιο μακριά απο τοίχους κλπ και βλέπουμε. Μετάνιωσα; Οχι. Ξέχασα να πω ότι είναι πολύ όμορφα και έχουν στιβαρή καμπίνα χωρίς αντηχήσεις. Αν ξαναγόραζα ηχεία ίσως έπαιρνα τα spektor 2 γιατί έχουν καλές κριτικές αν και δεν άκουσα κάτι το ιδιαίτερο με τα δικά μου αφτιά, επίσης ίσως 6.5" αν και δε μου αρέσει το μπάσο αλλά φτάνει πιο χαμηλά και γενικά ο ήχος θα είναι πιο γεμάτος και στις μεσαίες. Οπωσδήποτε παίζει ρόλο ο ενισχυτής και πρωτίστως οι πηγές, τα dac, τα αρχεία ήχου κλπ
Αν έφτανα παραπάνω θα έπαιρνα τα Magnat Signature 703, τα Kef Ls50 ή τα Focal Aria 906. Θα προτιμήσω κάποια ευρωπαίκή εταιρία την επόμενη φορά, που να έχει πάθος με τον ήχο και όχι το χρήμα, πχ Δανία που το κατέχουν γενικά, ή ακόμη καλύτερα να φτιάχνονται στην Ε.Ε, όπως Project-Audio, Focal, Chario κλπ. Μια εταιρία που να ασχολείται κατεξοχήν με τη ΜΟΥΣΙΚΗ
