In the years since the Liberation until now, we have seen - after the Germans - the English come (and leave quickly), the Americans come (and seemingly have no intention of leaving!), perhaps because we behaved rather loosely at first and they mocked us: as new “protectors” they appeared with a liberal face, giving false hopes to the people that something was about to change, just as it happened when the pre-war classic “protectors” gave way to modern promoters and the locals believed they could see better days...

But today? Shouldn't we do something? Is it enough to say "we will never die, you damn grave diggers"?
