Description & Specifications

The existing Grammars, mostly scientifically significant, have the ability to theoretically prepare those who wish to approach the texts of ancient Attic rhetoric. However, this theoretical preparation does not ensure the uninterrupted understanding of the texts, as these books lack the application of grammatical knowledge to corresponding exercises.

An effort to cover this gap is the present manual. This book contains, in addition to the theory of the Grammar of the ancient Greek language, which is structured into 36 chapters according to the structure of school Grammar, 1000 exercises and 60 short texts of Attic rhetoric.

The exercises, resulting from a painstaking effort to gather material that comprehensively covers the richness of grammatical phenomena, are presented with hierarchical difficulty and in various forms, so that the interest of the reader remains intact, such as: in the form of filling in blanks, declension of nouns and verb persons, conjugation of nouns and writing of tenses and moods of verbs, recognition of forms either within sentences or within texts related to the grammatical phenomenon that was taught, identification of correct or incorrect forms, deletion of the incorrect part, solving crosswords, substitution of words with other synonyms, matching forms with their recognition, matching verb forms of one voice with forms of another voice, selection of the correct one from listed forms, etc.

Particular attention is also given to the etymological part, which, as is known, occupies an exceptional position in the new school books. A list of the most common irregular verbs with their tenses and derivatives complements this effort. At the end of the book and in a special appendix, the answers to the exercises are provided with complete analysis and justification.
