This volume includes texts presented at the 28th Annual Meeting of the Linguistics Sector of the Department of Philology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (April 21-21, 2007) on the theme "Language & Society".
The presentations fall within a wide range of voices in the field of sociolinguistics, while not blurring or concealing their epistemological and methodological distinctions. It is no coincidence that the keynote speeches of the meeting represent three prominent schools in sociolinguistics: Modern Variation Linguistics, Critical Discourse Analysis, and Conversation Analysis.
