Description

Description

Ubiquiti Networks launches the second generation airMAX® CPE (Customer Premises Equipment), the PowerBeam® 5AC Gen 2, with dedicated Wi-Fi management. The PowerBeam 5AC Gen 2 directs RF energy in a tighter beamwidth. By focusing in one direction, the PowerBeam 5AC Gen 2 blocks or spatially filters out noise to improve noise immunity. This feature is especially important in an area crowded with other RF signals of the same or similar frequency.

Ubiquiti's InnerFeed® technology integrates the radio into the feedhorn of the antenna, so no cable is needed. This improves performance because it eliminates cable losses. With high performance and innovative design, the PowerBeam 5AC Gen 2 is versatile and cost-effective for deployment. The second-generation devices operate with airOS® v8 software - the revolutionary operating system for Ubiquiti® airMAX ac products.

With two antennas, I managed to create an 11.6 KM bridge in one day in order to send Internet to my vacation home. The link has been active and stable for 15 days now, with the same performance even in bad weather. Generally, it receives improvements that I haven't worked on yet, regarding noise and the ideal frequency. Nevertheless, I have achieved my goal of having a stable network at 11.6 KM with speeds of 20 Mbps. If there is line of sight and both antennas synchronize, someone can easily cover large distances.

Ioannis Stamoulis
