In addition to their artistic and psychological interest, children's drawings present another noteworthy, albeit neglected, condition.
In their attempt to understand the world around them, children create drawings, giving form to their experiences and assigning personal meaning to them. They use a repertoire of smudges, marks, visual symbols, and representational tricks for this purpose.
This book examines cases of drawings, highlighting the mental and cognitive processes in which children are engaged while drawing. This study aims to initiate a dialogue around the educational dilemma: "Do children learn to draw, or do children learn by drawing?", attributing to children's drawings the cognitive and pedagogical significance they deserve.
