Today, the resources are much more abundant for all new researchers, and the conditions appear more favorable. Back then, the difficulties were considered insurmountable, and the approach to primarily European sources was regarded as utopian.

It is now time again, as things have calmed down, to thoughtfully and prudently delve into the study of the modern history of Macedonia, to examine with greater attention the social, economic, and political cohesion of this geographical zone, and to draw our conclusions with moderation and sincerity.

The mistakes of the past cannot have a timeless application for the neo-Hellenic phenomenon.
