The Holy Monastery of Saints Mina, Victor, and Vincent holds great historical significance. The Chians, who have great honor and respect for it, simply refer to it as Saint Mina.
The Monastery is also known beyond the borders of the island of mastic, primarily for one of the most tragic pages in Chian history, which was written within its walls. This is the massacre and the holocaust of approximately 2000 women and children by the Turks on April 2, 1822, Easter Sunday.
