Description

Description

Combining a flatbed scanner with the convenience of a 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF), it allows scanning a wide range of demanding documents, including books, bound documents, passports, and sensitive documents, while also easily and quickly scanning stacks of office documents.

Features

Flexible and fast, with the smallest footprint in its class and a high-speed automatic document feeder (ADF) for enhanced productivity.
Combining a flatbed scanner with the convenience of a 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF), it allows scanning a wide range of demanding documents, including books, bound documents, passports, and delicate documents, while also easily and quickly scanning stacks of office documents. Thanks to its small footprint, it can be easily placed in reception desks and customer-facing environments, as well as in office support workgroups.

  • The smallest size in its class: Easily fits in both reception desks and support environments.
  • Scanning a wide range of documents: Such as books, bound documents, passports, and delicate items
  • Intelligent color and image settings: Automatic cropping, skew correction, blank page and background removal
  • One of the fastest in its class: Scanning speed of 25 pages per minute
  • USB 3.0 connectivity: Speed is not reduced, even when scanning at a high resolution of 300 dpi

Smart features
Intelligent color and image adjustments, including automatic cropping, skew correction, blank page and background removal, with Epson's image processing technology. Thanks to the long document mode, it is possible to scan paper over three meters (3,048 mm) long in one go.

Boost your office productivity
One of the fastest scanners in its class with a scanning speed of 25 pages per minute. The USB 3.0 connectivity means that speed is not reduced, even when scanning at a high resolution of 300 dpi. Scan both sides of a page with the duplex scanning capability for added convenience. Create up to 30 tasks with the optional network panel and scan directly to server locations, cloud services, and Microsoft SharePoint. The included Epson software allows dual image output: scan and send documents simultaneously to two different destinations. The DS-1630 also enables easy one-touch scanning to folders, email, online storage accounts, and more.

Very bad device... Even worse are the device drivers.... The keyboard stops working and you have to delete a file for it to work... What a waste of time. Get an HP instead.

Unfortunately, the description of skroutz does not tell us that although it has double-sided scanning, it operates with one lamp, which means that you have to re-feed the document a second time to scan the back side (and then feed it again to remove it with the correct orientation).
The problem with triple document feeding is not only the tripling of time, but also the tripling of chances for a paper jam.
There are two types of paper jams that can occur.
    - The simple one where you open the scanner, fix the problem, and press continue, and the application simply continues.
    - However, there is also the fatal error, where you have to close the scanner, click ok on the program's alert (the program closes, but at least it saves whatever it has scanned so far), and after reopening the scanner and fixing the paper jam, you have to wait about a minute for the scanner to function again...
In any case, I have not found a way to release the document to help you remove it, and sometimes it holds on tightly and there is not enough surface area to safely grab and pull it.
From the application, I expected a significantly better UI and the ability to edit the generated PDFs because it is a product of a large company. And considering how often paper jams occur (depending on the condition of the documents) and scanning is interrupted, it would be very useful to be able to merge them from the application.
    At least I found pdf24
    https://tools.pdf24.org/
which is completely free and provides an additional desktop application. It has many PDF management tools, which even perform significantly better OCR than the scanner application.
Overall, I have not been disappointed by the tool, but I have not examined the quality of the scans. So far, I have only needed to scan my own documents and I am satisfied with the quality for this purpose.

Unfortunately, after three years it needs a repair costing 180€, a very expensive repair that essentially costs 330€, and then you throw it away after three years. It's a shame for an Epson machine, I do not recommend buying it

Excellent scanner. The black line mentioned in another review appears when there is dirt on the transparent section in the ADF (where multiple documents are scanned) (easily cleaned with white alcohol) or if that area gets scratched (very difficult) or damaged in any other way. The replacement (it changes the entire internal hinged cover of the ADF) costs only 8 euros. The scanner is value for money and excellent in scanning quality. With a good OCR, it works wonders
