The Saints and Equal-to-the-Apostles Great Constantine and his mother Helen are particularly honored by our Church for their great contribution to Christianity, as the emperor Great Constantine transformed the Christian religion, which was tormented by brutal persecutions, into the official religion of the state.
Together with his mother, the Augusta Helen, who discovered the Precious Cross of our Lord in Jerusalem, he built magnificent churches both in the Holy Land and in Constantinople as well as other parts of the Byzantine Empire, which still illuminate these places and the shrines today.
