Buying Guide for Halogen Quartz Heaters

Buying Guide for Halogen Quartz Heaters

Temperature drop? Not in your home!

Come and see the main features of halogen/quartz heaters and which of them you should pay more attention to, based on the use you want to make of it.

Main features

1. Type of heater

Quartz

Quartz lamps contain a resistor and heat surfaces that are opposite the heater, but they do not effectively heat the air in the room where they are located.

Halogen

Lamps that contain gas that light up and heat in the same way as quartz.

Carbon

Carbon fiber lamps glow and transfer heat to the environment. Carbon lamps provide more heat and have a longer lifespan compared to halogen or quartz lamps.

2. Power (Watts) & space coverage

The power, measured in watts, plays a very important role for the size of the space.

However, all you have to do is select the relevant filter on the heaters page. Just like here!

3. Placement

There are 2 main types of heater: floor models, which are placed on the floor and can be easily moved wherever you want, and wall models, which are more fixed and you will see them in bathrooms or even outdoors.

4. Safety

Read the specifications and make sure the appliance has overheat protection and automatic shut-off in case it falls over.

5. Extra features

Bathroom:

Heaters with special protection against steam for use in the bathroom.

Thermostat

Ability to set the ideal temperature.

Fan

Better and faster transfer of heat into the space.

Humidifier

Heaters that have a water tank so the air does not dry out.

Do you know the space you need heating for? We know which features you should pay more attention to.

Bedroom

For the bedroom, choose a floor heater that can cover spaces up to 15 sq.m., with a thermostat, so you can always have a comfortable temperature while you sleep, and a humidifier, to maintain the ideal humidity in the air.

Living room

To heat the living room, again prefer a floor heater that covers spaces of 16-24 sq.m. or 25-30 sq.m. if your living room is quite large. If you want the space to warm up even faster, choose a heater with a fan for quick heat distribution.

Bathroom

For the bathroom, if you want to save space, prefer a bathroom heater with wall mounting, which will make it resistant to steam.

For the veranda

Since halogen/quartz heaters heat the objects in front of them, place a wall heater in a spot that “faces” the table, so you get the best possible heat output.

Now that you know which one to choose, let’s see what their pros and cons are!

Pros

+ Small in size

+ Easy to move from one room to another, + Quiet and very efficient for quick/temporary heating of a room

#SkroutzTip: For greater safety, prefer a model with automatic shut-off in case it falls over.

Cons

- Requires caution (especially on wooden floors and carpets), supervision (in case of pets or children), and maintaining the necessary safety distances

- Not suitable for very large spaces if it is the only heating source

And don’t forget! Often there may be differences in a product based on its overall features as well as its construction. Before deciding, read other users’ reviews to see their opinion too!
