Body Creams Buying Guide

(October 2023)

A body cream can make a difference!

For the most part, body creams moisturize and soothe the skin as they contain hydrating ingredients, and certainly our whole body needs care and hydration. How many times after a hot shower have you felt that “tight” sensation on your skin or dryness? That is exactly the moment when you need that much-desired body cream, the one that suits your own needs, of course!

And why is it important?

  • Moisturizes and nourishes the skin

  • Makes the skin glow

  • Smells wonderful

Which texture should I choose?

Depending on your skin and its needs, you can find what suits you best. Let’s take a look at the textures and their differences!

Cream

Body cream has a rich composition and is oilier than a lotion. It hydrates the skin more deeply and creates a protective oily film, which is why it takes a little time to be absorbed. It is ideal for very dry skin as it provides intensive hydration and nourishment.

Lotion or emulsion

Moisturizing lotion or emulsion is very similar to cream, with the difference that it has a lighter texture. It spreads easily on the skin, is absorbed faster than cream, and leaves a feeling of cleanliness and freshness. It is ideal for normal, oily, sensitive, and dry skin.

Balm

Balm refers to a salve. Essentially, these are body creams with a different composition, containing plenty of plant oils and beneficial vitamins that can boost skin health. Additionally, balms contain a generous amount of beeswax, more than body butters, and are ideal for very dry skin as they provide intensive hydration.

Butter

Body butter is a blend of natural butters and oils, such as cocoa butter or shea butter. Its composition contains beeswax, less than balms, and it is thicker and more concentrated than body cream. Body butter is often better for dry, cracked, or sensitive skin.

Gel

Body gel has an even lighter texture than emulsion and is more refreshing. It is absorbed very quickly and leaves a feeling of freshness. Their composition usually includes aloe, which is soothing, or hyaluronic acid, which is moisturizing. We recommend it for normal skin.

Mousse

The mousse texture is both lighter and softer. It has a finer texture than cream, is easily absorbed, contains moisturizing ingredients, and is recommended for normal and sensitive skin.

Body Creams Buying Guide

Which ingredient suits me?

Depending on your skin’s needs, you can choose creams with ingredients that match your skin better and see the difference you want right away. The most popular ones are the following:

  • Urea: An ingredient that already exists in our body and is a natural byproduct of protein metabolism in our liver. Synthetic urea is manufactured for use in cosmetic products related to skin care. It has the property of absorbing moisture from the environment and retaining it, making the skin softer and smoother. You can also use it to treat dry areas of the skin, such as heels, calluses, and chapped hands.

  • Aloe: One of the plants whose composition is up to 96% water. Extremely beneficial for the skin, as it contains minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and vitamins A, C, and E. It has moisturizing and healing properties, soothes and calms the skin, and restores elasticity.

  • Donkey Milk: Yes, the same one that Cleopatra used for her baths, and Hippocrates for treating illnesses! It contains vitamins of the B, D, E, and A complex, fatty acids, and magnesium. It is full of nourishing and revitalizing properties for the skin. It softens and moisturizes the skin, providing deep nourishment.

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Another ingredient that exists in our body, and is one of the main glycosaminoglycans of the skin. It is a hygroscopic ingredient that can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It deeply hydrates the skin, helps boost the skin’s natural moisture, keeping the skin healthy and radiant.

  • Extra Tip! Make sure your skin is slightly damp before applying the cream with hyaluronic acid you have chosen, as it locks in moisture; otherwise, you will get the opposite effect, which is something we definitely don’t want!

    It is worth remembering that…

    • The choice of a body cream depends on several factors, such as the skin type, the needs of the skin depending on the season and age

    • The heavier and more oily textures help to moisturize areas such as elbows and legs where the skin is drier.

    • In the summer, we recommend lighter textures such as gel and body lotion, while in the winter we use heavier textures like butter or cream.

    • If you have any issues with your skin, visiting a dermatologist is the only sure and safe suggestion.

    Tips to be a pro!

    • Apply a generous amount to see your skin hydrated, but don't empty the package!

    • Use the product on your entire body, don't forget your hands, elbows, and heels.

    • Apply the cream or whatever texture you choose immediately after you get out of the shower and you will see an instant difference in your skin.
