iPhone 18: Everything rumored about Apple’s new phones
Autumn is approaching, and as every year, Apple isn’t saying a word. But the internet is already on fire!
To be clear from the start: none of this is official yet. We are talking purely about leaks and rumors from the usual tech insiders. But let’s take a look at what is being heard most strongly about the new iPhone 18 lineup, which we expect in September.
New CEO and a “split” release?
This September we may see Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus (who officially takes over on September 1), make his debut.
But there is a twist. Rumors say Apple will change tactics and show us only the Pro models: the iPhone 18 Pro, the 18 Pro Max, and perhaps its first foldable, the iPhone Ultra.
As for the regular iPhone 18, the cheaper 18e, and the brand-new slim iPhone Air? We may have to wait until March 2027.
Technical Specifications (Based on Leaks)
It is rumored that all models this year will come with 12GB RAM as standard (instead of 8GB on the base models), in order to comfortably run the new iOS 27 and the updated Siri AI beta
(Note: It is also said that a new N2 chip will radically improve WiFi, AirDrop, and Hotspot).
Display, Battery and the “Cherry” Color
Mockups and information from China show us some very useful changes:
Even Brighter Displays & Smaller Dynamic Island: It is said that Apple requested much brighter panels this year. At the same time, the black “island” at the top of the screen is expected to become quite a bit smaller, hiding Face ID sensors under the glass.
Monster Battery: For the first time, the iPhone 18 Pro/Max is rumored to break the 5,000mAh barrier. This will make the Max slightly thicker (+0.25mm) and heavier (+7 grams), but battery life will be huge.
New Back & Colors: The rear glass seems to have a more unified look (without a two-tone finish). As for colors, “black” is likely saying goodbye and making way for a dark gray, a silver, a light blue, and the striking Dark Cherry.
The “Hidden Card”: Internet from Space
With the new A20 chip at 2nm (which means incredible speed and less heat), Apple is getting ready to introduce its own C2 modem. The most impressive scenario? It’s said that it will give us regular 5G internet via satellite, and not just for emergency messages!
The camera change that will make the difference
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg talks about “one of the biggest camera upgrades in history.” Why? Variable aperture.
In simple terms, the main lens will mechanically open and close depending on the light. This will allow you to take portraits with real, natural background blur (like from a professional camera) and crystal-clear photos in the dark. At the same time, it is also said that the telephoto lens will have a larger aperture for better zoom shots.
We repeat: all of this remains rumors until Apple takes the stage and officially announces it. What is certain, though, is that this fall (with the possible price increases and the new models) will be very interesting!
Price: Get Ready for Increases (Due to AI)
Here the news is not so good. Due to the huge demand for RAM memory caused by Artificial Intelligence (experts jokingly call it “RAMageddon”), all electronics are getting more expensive.
It is said that the memory components in the iPhone 18 Pro will cost Apple $150 more than the previous model. Outgoing CEO Tim Cook had prepared the ground by saying that “price increases are inevitable.” Analysts speculate that the iPhone 18 Pro could start at $1,299 (that is, $200 more expensive than last year)
