Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Chemical Toilet Fluid

Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Chemical Toilet Fluid

Whether you’re camping, traveling by caravan or boat, or caring for a loved one at home, the chemical toilet is a lifesaving solution. However, to function properly, stay odor-free, and remain clean, it requires the right fluids.

Because at first glance there are many options and different colors, we created this simple guide to help you understand exactly what you need in 3 easy steps! Find all Chemical Toilet Liquids here

Learn What the Colors Mean

The basic rule for chemical toilets is that the color of the liquid shows where it goes and what its job is:

  • Blue Liquid (For the bottom tank - Waste): This is the most classic and powerful. It goes into the tank where the waste is collected. It dissolves waste and toilet paper, stops the formation of gases, and completely "eliminates" bad odors. Note: Because it is a strong chemical, it should only be emptied in designated areas and not in nature or regular septic tanks.

  • Green Liquid (The Eco-friendly Solution): It does exactly the same job as the blue one (it also goes into the bottom tank). The difference? It is biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Its huge advantage is that you can safely empty it into any regular septic tank.

  • Pink Liquid (For the top tank - Flush): This goes into the tank with the clean water, the one you use to "flush." It keeps the water fresh, leaves a fragrant protective layer in the bowl (so everything slides more easily), and maintains the toilet's rubber seals.

Liquid or Sachets?

Now, there aren’t just the classic bottles:

  • Liquids (Bottles): The most classic and economical solution, ideal if you use the toilet very frequently.

  • Tablets / Sachets (Sachets/Pods): The most practical solution on the market! These are small sachets with exactly the dose your toilet needs. You simply throw a sachet into the tank, add a little water, and you’re done. No measuring, no spills.

What else should you pay attention to?

Concentrated products: You will see many small bottles (usually around 750ml) labeled "Concentrated". Don't be fooled by the size! They are more "powerful", last as long as a large 2-liter bottle, but take up half the space and are much lighter.

The right Toilet Paper: Do not use regular supermarket toilet paper. It does not dissolve easily and, over time, will clog your tank. Choose special toilet paper for chemical toilets, which dissolves immediately in water.

Bleach is forbidden: Never clean the chemical toilet with bleach or harsh household cleaners. Not only will they damage the plastics and seals (rubber gaskets), but they will also completely neutralize the action of the chemical fluids (especially the green one).

In a few words

To have a complete set, you will need a liquid for the waste tank (Blue or Green) and a liquid for the flush tank (Pink). Choose the form (liquid or sachets) that suits you best, get the special paper, and you are ready.
