Festival on the Mountain: Coolness, Adventure, and Unpredictable Weather

At a mountain festival, the air is fresh and the view is enchanting, but conditions can become demanding

At night, the temperature drops significantly (even in August), the weather is changeable, and the ground is often uneven or rocky.

Here, the goal is to stay warm at night and steady as you move between stages.

What you’ll need:

  • 3-Season Tent: Forget simple beach tents. In the mountains, you need a tent with good waterproofing (at least 2000mm-3000mm) for humidity or a sudden summer downpour.
  • Sleeping Bag for Low Temperatures: It might be 30°C at noon, but at night in the mountains the temperature drops sharply. A sleeping bag with a comfort temperature between 5°C and 15°C is essential.
  • Self-Inflating Sleeping Pads: Essential for extra insulation from the cold ground and a softer sleep.
  • Headlamp: When the live show ends late at night and you need to return to your tent through the trails, your hands should be free (maybe holding a beer).
  • High-Capacity Power Bank: In the mountains, your phone signal struggles, causing the battery to drain twice as fast. A 20,000mAh+ power bank will keep you and your friends online for the whole weekend.
  • Hiking Backpacks: Because you’ll probably need to walk a trail to the camping area.
  • Hiking Boots: For stable footing on rocks and comfortable dancing without twisting an ankle.

Festival by the Lake: Humidity, Nature, and the Ultimate Chill

A festival on the shores of a lake perhaps offers the most relaxing vibe.

In the morning, you can hang out under the plane trees and in the evening watch your favorite bands.

However, while the fresh water provides natural coolness, it also means increased humidity (and morning mist), frequent mud around the tents, and, of course, countless mosquitoes.

What you'll need:

  • Double-Layer Tents: Absolutely necessary to avoid condensation (so water doesn't drip inside your tent in the morning).
  • Insect Repellents & Coils: The number one "must-have" product for areas with standing water, since next to running water, mosquitoes have their own festival.
  • Portable Fridge: To keep your group's energy drinks, water, and snacks cold, a good fridge with ice packs is non-negotiable.
  • Waterproof Backpacks: For walks by the river between live shows, a dry bag will protect your phone, keys, and dry clothes from an accidental dip.
  • Camping Chairs: So you don't have to sit on the always damp ground.

Festival by the Sea: Sun, Sand, and Parties

The classic, ultimate summer experience. You wake up (usually from the heat), take a dip to refresh yourself, and continue dancing on the sand.

Here, your biggest enemy is the scorching sun that means business, the sand that literally gets everywhere, and dehydration

Your gear should be lightweight and focused on providing shade.

What you'll need:

  • Tent with UV Protection & Good Shading: The beach sun can turn your tent into an oven from 8 in the morning. Look for tents with "Fresh & Black" technology or use an extra outdoor tarp to create shade above.
  • Beach Chairs: Because no one wants to fill their sleeping bag with sand. A comfortable, foldable chair with a cup holder is the ultimate festival status symbol.
  • Thermos: Forget plastic bottles that heat up in 5 minutes. A good thermos keeps your water cold for up to 24 hours, even under the scorching sun.
  • Portable Speaker: For the essential pre-parties and after-parties at the camp ground, a waterproof speaker that can handle sand is the life of the party.
  • Face & Body Sunscreens: For obvious reasons – you don’t want to spend the festival with sunburns.
  • Beach Towels (Microfiber): They take up minimal space, dry quickly, and are easy to shake the sand off.
  • Beach Mats: Where are you going without a mat on the beach?
