Key Type: What kind of feel do you want?

• Low Profile: They resemble laptop keyboards. They are completely flat, silent, and very comfortable because you don’t have to bend your wrists upwards. They are the top choice for modern offices.
• Membrane: The classic, budget-friendly option. They are fairly quiet and do their job well for simple, everyday use.
• Mechanical (for typing): They offer an excellent typing feel, but you need to be careful about the noise. Prefer Brown (Tactile) or Silent switches, which provide a nice feel when pressed without making noise. Avoid Blue (Clicky) switches, as their sound is similar to a typewriter and will disturb your colleagues.

Battery Tip: Pay attention to whether it charges with a modern USB-C cable (so you don’t have to look for special cables) or if it uses AA/AAA batteries (which usually last for months or even years).

• Wired (USB): The traditional solution that just works, without ever worrying about running out of battery in the middle of an important project.

Ergonomics & Comfort

• Wrist Rest: If the keyboard is high, the wrist pad is a lifesaver to prevent your hands from getting strained.
• Ergonomic keyboards: They have special shapes (e.g. split in the middle). They require some time to get used to, but they are the ultimate solution if you suffer from wrist pain.

Smart Features & Details

• Mac vs Windows Compatibility: If you work on a Mac, make sure the keyboard supports Apple’s operating system. Ideally, look for a model that has both Windows (Alt/Win) and Mac (Option/Cmd) symbols printed on the keys.
• Media Keys: A dedicated button for instant microphone mute or a dial for volume control is a "lifesaver" during daily online meetings.
