Apple announced – as expected – the new 14-inch model MacBook Pro with the M5 processor MacBook Pro with the M5 processor, marking a new era in its laptop category. Unlike last year’s launch where the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max versions were introduced simultaneously, this year the company chose to reveal first the more affordable model with the M5, leaving the more powerful M5 Pro and M5 Max versions for later in the coming months (rumors suggest 2026).

The new MacBook Pro with a 14-inch diagonal display comes with the brand-new M5 processor, which, despite using the same 3nm manufacturing process as the previous M4, offers significant performance improvements, especially in artificial intelligence (AI) tasks. The M5 features 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, with each GPU core having a built-in Neural Accelerator, allowing for 3.5 times faster AI performance compared to the M4. Additionally, the M5 delivers 1.6 times better graphics performance and about 20% higher overall performance. The RAM starts at 16GB with bandwidth at 153GB/s, significantly increased from the M4’s 120GB/s, further boosting speed and responsiveness for demanding tasks.

Battery life is impressive, with the new device capable of reaching up to 24 hours of video playback, thanks to the improved energy efficiency of the M5. This autonomy enhances portability and flexibility, making the MacBook Pro an excellent choice for professionals who need a powerful computer everywhere, further reinforcing the portability character that Apple has given its laptops for so many years.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro retains its familiar and beloved design with a high-quality Liquid Retina XDR display, 12MP Center Stage camera for video calls, a sound system with six speakers, and a wide range of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, SD card slot, and MagSafe charging. Its storage starts at 512GB (SSD technology) and can be expanded up to 4TB.

The device is available in two colors, Space Black and Silver, with an official starting price in Greece of 1,899 euros and is already available for pre-order. 

The official release in the first countries (including Greece) is scheduled for October 22.
