Space Dimensions
In order to choose the ideal and correct ceiling fan, you should take into consideration the square footage of the space where you will place it, as well as the height. The fan blade should be at least 2.15 meters and maximum 2.50-2.80 meters from the floor. As for the square footage, below is the appropriate diameter depending on the square footage, in order for the ceiling fan to have good performance.
Guide to choosing a fan based on the size of the space:
- up to 15m²: With a diameter of up to 120 cm, for a small room or kitchen.
- 15m² to 20m²: With a diameter from 120 to 135 cm, for a large room or living room.
- 20m² to 40m²: With a diameter from 135 to 155 cm, for open spaces, living-dining room.
- over 40m²: With a diameter over 155 cm, for large spaces, hospitality/commercial.
Noise Level
The latest technology ceiling fans produce less noise compared to older models. The noise comes from the motor operation and the rotation of the blades, however, thanks to proper design, there are models that are less noisy. In a bedroom, it is good to choose a ceiling fan with a noise level less than 60dB, if you don't want to feel like you're sleeping on a runway just before takeoff.
Features
#Speeds
Most ceiling fans have the option to choose speeds from low to high, so you can select the one that suits your needs.
#Remote Control
Many new models come with a remote control for turning on/off and selecting the speed, allowing you to operate the fan from the comfort of your couch or bed.
#Timer
Thanks to the timer, you can program the operating time of the fan for automatic shutdown after a certain number of hours, saving energy.
#Wi-Fi
You can connect it to your mobile device and control its functions remotely. This way, you can find it cool when you return home by activating the fan a little before you arrive.
#Light
The fan is installed in place of a light fixture and is equipped with its own lighting for replacing the previous one. Some also have the option to choose the intensity or color of the lighting.
#Reverse Mode (Winter)
A ceiling fan operating in the opposite direction of rotation (clockwise) during winter transfers warm air from the ceiling to the lower layers of the room.
This technique results in the circulation of warm air throughout the space, distributing heat more effectively without creating temperature stratification but a mixture of air with the best possible uniform temperature in the room. Practically, this technique achieves energy savings by reducing heating costs by up to 10%.
