Electric Blankets: Find the Best One for You

Electric Blankets: Find the Best One for You

Affordable and practical heating option for the cold winter nights.

The coldest weeks of winter are ahead of us, and electric blankets and underblankets are a practical choice to keep yourself warm easily and, above all, economically. Don’t worry! Choosing the right one is not a difficult process, as long as you pay attention to one or two little things, so you can make the best choice that will keep you warm this winter and for the winters to come.

Electric Blankets: Find the Best One for You

Blanket or Underlay?

The first thing you need to consider is whether you prefer an electric underlay for use on top of the mattress and under the fitted sheet, or an electric blanket that allows you to have it close to you in any other spot you choose to relax, such as your armchair or sofa. The first option can also remove moisture from the mattress and sheets, while the second can prove more practical in some cases, as it can be easily transported and used in any room of the house.

In any case, both options will provide you with a calm and warm sleep, helping your muscles to relax, while also saving you money, as it is not necessary to use another heating method to warm the entire room you are in.

Size Selection

Of course, just as when choosing a simple blanket or a mattress pad, when it comes to electric ones, you should pay attention to the dimensions so that they match those of your bed and, more generally, cover your needs. The length of an electric mattress pad, regardless of the type of bed, usually ranges from 140 to 160 centimeters, although there are also options with a greater length at 180 centimeters. These, as is logical, will cover a larger surface of your mattress, comfortably warming even the lower parts of your body.

In any case, choose the right one taking into account the length and width dimensions, and if you proceed with choosing a mattress pad, make sure its dimensions are as close as possible to those of your mattress, so that its internal heating elements do not extend beyond the surface of the bed.

Additional Features & Tips

With timer function

Electric blankets and underblankets with a timer offer the convenience of automatic shut-off after a specific period of time. In this way, they help save energy while providing an extra element of safety in case you forget to turn it off.

Operating power

The majority of options on the market have operating power ranging from 50 to 200W. In general, choosing an electric underblanket or blanket can prove to be a much more economical option compared to using heating devices whose power consumption is at significantly higher levels.

Heating levels

Heating levels allow you to adjust the desired temperature intensity according to your needs. Most models incorporate 2 or even 3 settings, although there are also options on the market with more levels, for even more precise adjustment.

Control unit

Depending on the model or size, electric blankets and underblankets come with 1 or even 2 controllers for managing the necessary settings. If you usually make adjustments during the night or in situations where lighting is insufficient, options with a digital controller and illuminated display are definitely more practical.

Washability

Options with washable capability have detachable controllers and can therefore be washed even in a washing machine. In any case, and depending on the model, it is always advisable to follow the manufacturer's instructions to avoid any damage.
