Computer Speakers Buying Guide

Do you want to listen to your favorite music, watch movies, or immerse yourself in the world of video games? Sound is half the experience! See what you need to look out for today to make the best choice.

1. How many speakers do you need?

  • 2.0 (Two speakers): Ideal for classic office use and music. If you choose quality "Active Monitors," the sound will be crystal clear.

  • 2.1 (With Subwoofer): If you want your desk to "shake" during game explosions or the bass in music, the subwoofer is essential.

  • 5.1 (Surround Sound): Here we are talking about the ultimate Home Cinema experience. It consists of a center speaker, two front, two rear (surround), and a subwoofer. It is the ideal choice if you want to hear exactly where enemy footsteps are coming from in gaming or feel like you are inside the movie. However, it requires space and proper placement of the rear speakers.

  • Soundbars: The modern solution. They are placed under the screen, save space, and offer very rich sound without filling your desk with "satellites."

2. Connectivity: What should you choose?

  • USB-C: The best choice for modern laptops and PCs. One cable for everything: audio and power together!

  • Bluetooth (5.0+): Essential if you want to play music from your phone without turning on your computer. Choose version 5.0 or higher to avoid interruptions.

  • Optical (Fiber Optic): If you plan to connect the speakers to a console (e.g. PlayStation), the optical port ensures zero interference.

3. Watt: Don't get confused!

Always look at the RMS Watt. These tell you the truth about the power of the speakers.

  • For a normal room, 20-40W RMS is more than enough.

  • If you want very high volumes, go for 60W RMS and above.

4. Useful Extras

  • RGB Lighting: To match your speakers with the rest of your setup (keyboard/mouse).

  • Wired Controller: Many systems have a "control pod" that sits on your desk so you can adjust the volume and bass instantly.

  • Software: They often come with an app to customize the sound (Equalizer) exactly the way you like it.
