The Best Freezers on the Market

Is the space of your refrigerator-freezer not enough for you?

If the size of the refrigerator-freezer is not sufficient for your monthly supplies and you are looking for ways to avoid frequent purchases and worries, then the best solution is a freezer. You can store plenty of products, freeze them for a long period of time, and they will remain fresh and delicious.

What do you need to know, however, during your research for its acquisition? Some basic features that will help you in searching for the best - based on your own needs - freezer are the space you have, the technology it uses, and how quiet it is.

The best upright NoFrost freezer

The best choice for a freezer is when it has NoFrost technology, meaning that the amount of ice formed is less. This allows for less frequent defrosting, saving time and effort. Also, when available space at home is limited, an upright freezer is more convenient. It has drawers, one on top of the other, which helps in proper organization of food and easier finding. The Hisense FV191N4AW1 155lt NoFrost with Super Freeze function quickly reduces the temperature, ensuring immediate freezing of food.

"Perfect for small spaces as it is in the style of a refrigerator. It is very good for cooling and you don't need to have it at maximum to cool the food, just a little higher than the middle is enough in the summer and it cools satisfactorily. As for the winter, having it at two degrees as the instructions say will be perfect. Note: I have had it for 7 months and it is still working well. I give it a rating of 10 with many compliments."

The best horizontal freezer (chest) with large capacity and autonomy

When the available space is sufficient or even better abundant, in a warehouse or a garage or even in a large kitchen, then the most suitable choice is a chest freezer. This is because it has large capacity since there are no drawers to occupy space, such as the Gorenje FH451CW which is 457lt. It can meet all the needs for frozen food and if the power is cut off, it keeps them unchanged for up to 40 hours.

"Very good choice. I had a freezer with a capacity of 100 liters before and I wanted something bigger. It's so quiet that I have to bend down low to see if it's working. Very good cooling, I set the thermostat to less than half (factory setting) because it doesn't need more. I have it on the balcony and of course, due to summer, it has already started to accumulate some ice, it needs defrosting twice a year according to the instructions. Obviously, inside the house, it wouldn't accumulate ice so quickly. However, there is no freezer that doesn't accumulate ice and this one has a drainage plug on the floor and a low front for easy cleaning. It also has internal LED lighting and an external lock with 2 keys... for shared storage with neighbors... Not to forget, it is very economical, with the old rating being energy class A+. I recently bought a digital refrigerator thermometer to see the cooling and as shown in the photos, with the scale below half in cooling intensity... it showed -20.8!!!. Tested in an external temperature today 1/9/22 in Thessaloniki, 30 degrees Celsius. It is indeed a very good machine so far. Defrosting has only been done once since its purchase (although it is on the balcony) and it was an easy process, so it doesn't need more than 1-2 times a year."

Also, the fast freezing function helps when the freezer is being replenished with new food to prevent the freezing process from being interrupted.

"It is just as I expected, I have it temporarily inside the house and at night you can't even tell it's working. I like that it has a glass inside, so when you open the lid you can see what you want without losing cooling. As for durability, time will tell. It seems reliable. I should also mention that I liked the inox on the door and overall its color."

Tips for the longevity of the freezer

  • Clean it according to the manufacturer's instructions without using sharp objects.
  • Avoid opening the door frequently to prevent loss of cooling.
  • Find out about its autonomy and how many hours the food remains unchanged.
  • Use plastic bottles and storage containers instead of glass ones.
