Juicers: Buying guide to find the best one!
To enjoy juices from fresh fruits and vegetables at home, especially if you follow a healthy diet, you need a good juicer. Choose one taking into account your needs and the technical characteristics that will provide you with the vitamins and nutrients you need daily!
Centrifugal juicers
In centrifugal juicers, fruits and/or vegetables are placed in the feed chute and, thanks to the blade that rotates quickly inside the chamber, they are chopped and pulped, extracting the juice through centrifugal force.
Among their advantages is that the high speed at which the blade system operates to separate the juice from fruits and vegetables from their solid components saves time. So it is a better choice for a large family that needs a larger quantity or if you do not have much time available. In addition, there is no need to chop the fruits and vegetables, unlike with a slow masticating juicer.
As for the disadvantages, they yield less juice per fruit or vegetable and more pulp (although some people like that), and they are noisier due to the speed at which they operate.
Slow Juicers
The slow juicers, have vertical or horizontal augers, which crush and then press the ingredients at low speed. They have two outlets, one where the dry solids (pulp) are discharged and another where the juice comes out.
Among their advantages, they yield more juice from fruits and vegetables, preserve their natural nutritional properties to a greater extent and prevent oxidation. In addition, the juices are tastier since they are more homogenized. They also make much less noise due to the slow speed at which they operate.
For some, the disadvantages are that juicing is done at a slower speed than with a centrifugal juicer and many people need to cut fruits or vegetables into small pieces. If your time is limited, you may want to choose a centrifugal juicer.
Other features to consider:
- Power: The more powerful the motor, the faster you will enjoy your juice. It also ensures continuous operation and prevents overheating.
- Juice container capacity: For a large family, it is useful information about the amount of juice that the juicer can provide.
- Pulp container capacity: The large capacity allows you to prepare juices and smoothies without having to empty it to continue.
- Dishwasher-safe parts: It is important if you use it frequently, to be easily and quickly cleaned.
- Large feeding chute: The larger it is, the larger pieces of fruits and vegetables it can accommodate, so there is no need to chop them into small pieces.
- Rotation speeds: More than one is better for harder fruits and vegetables.
- Anti-drip system: Protection against dripping to ensure that the pressed juice remains in the bowl.
- Reverse rotation function: Ensures smooth operation in case it gets stuck by a large piece.
- Non-slip base: Ensures that the juicer stays in place during operation.
- Stainless steel blades: For longer durability and better juicing results.
- Safe operation or locking system: Ensures that the device is activated only when all components are properly assembled.
- Automatic shut-off: In case of overheating.
