Vasilis Spanos

Vasilis Spanos was born in Athens in 1965. He grew up in Kalamata and earned his Medical degree in Athens in 1989. During his cardiology specialization, he worked at Tameside General Hospital in Manchester, UK (1994-1995). He completed his specialization at the University Cardiology Clinic of Hippokration General Hospital under the direction of Professor Pavlos Toutouzas. After obtaining his Cardiology specialty (1999), he served as a scientific associate of the clinic. He trained in interventional cardiology at San Raffaele Hospital and Centro Cuore Columbus in Milan, alongside Antonio Colombo, a global reference in complex heart interventions. Upon completing his training, he worked as an interventional cardiologist at these hospitals (November 2000 - August 2003). Simultaneously, he served as the director of the intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) department at the clinical study organization center Mediolanum Cardio Research (September 2002 - June 2003). Since September 2003, he has been practicing interventional cardiology at the Euroclinic of Athens. He is responsible for the Hemodynamics Laboratory and Deputy Director of the 3rd Cardiology Clinic of Euroclinic and Consultant of the Hellenic Cardiology Foundation (EL.ICAR). He is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (2001). He has been involved in research in the field of interventional cardiology, both in Greece and abroad, resulting in numerous presentations at international conferences and articles in prestigious medical journals.
