Afshin J. Ghajar

Afshin J. Ghajar is a distinguished Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA, and an Honorary Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University in China. He earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. His expertise lies in experimental and computational heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Dr. Ghajar has made significant contributions to the field of thermal sciences through his experimental, empirical, and numerical work in heat transfer and stratification in sensible heat storage systems, heat transfer in non-Newtonian fluids, heat transfer in the transitional region, and heat transfer in two-phase flow without boiling. His current research activities focus on heat transfer in two-phase flow, thermal management of systems at the microscale, and mixed heat transfer and pressure drop in the transitional region. Dr. Ghajar is a research collaborator with Wright Patterson AFB (Dayton, Ohio) and the Dow Chemical Company (Freeport, Texas). Along with his collaborators, he has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He has been a keynote and invited speaker at numerous technical conferences and institutes. He has received several awards for distinguished teaching, research, advising, and service from the College of Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Series Editor for the CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Heat Transfer book series, and the Editor of the Journal of Heat Transfer Engineering, an international journal specializing in the practical application of heat transfer principles, published by Taylor & Francis.
