
Pamela Travers
P. L. Travers (August 9, 1899 – April 23, 1996) was an Australian author and journalist, best known for her books featuring the character Mary Poppins. Travers began publishing her poems during her teenage years while also working as an actress. She toured Australia and New Zealand with a Shakespearean company until 1924, when she settled in England and devoted herself to writing. Her greatest success was the series of works featuring Mary Poppins (a total of six books from 1934 to 1988). However, she also wrote several other novels and published poetry collections. She passed away in London in 1996.
