Eygenia Fakinou

Eugenia Fakinou was born in 1945 in Alexandria. She grew up in Athens and studied graphic arts and tour guiding. She worked for several years in magazines as a graphic designer. In 1976, she created the puppet theater "Denekedoupoli." She has written and illustrated many children's books. In 1982, her first novel "Astradeni" was published. Her novels have been translated into German, English, Russian, Hungarian, Danish, French, Dutch, Italian, and Serbian. In 2005, she was awarded the Readers' Prize (National Book Center - Skai 100.3) for her novel "The Orleans Method," and in 2008, she received the State Short Story Award for her collection "Garden Ambitions."
