Lenia Zafeiropoulou

Lenia Safiropoulou is a lyrical singer, poet, and translator. She studied singing, piano, and Lied at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, and opera at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio in London. She has received scholarships from the Maria Callas and Alexander Onassis Foundations, as well as from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London. She has collaborated with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, and all Greek orchestras. She has given recitals in London, Paris, Lyon, Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg, and Barcelona. She has participated in productions of the Athens Festival, the Greek National Opera, the Athens Concert Hall, and the Onassis Cultural Centre. In 2009, she was honored with the Greek Critics Association Award, and in 2017, she received the "Woman of the Year" award for poetry. In 2019, she won the G.KARTER poetry competition by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation. Poetry books: "Paternoster Square" (Polis 2012, Anagnostis magazine award), "Hard to stumble on stones" (Patakis 2016), "Hall of lost steps - 26 bare laments" (Polis 2019). Translations: Goethe-Heine: "When your mind boils and your heart" (book-CD Patakis 2013), W. Shakespeare "The Sonnets" (Gutenberg 2016), A. Pushkin "Tsar Saltan" (Patakis 2017). Her personal album, Sunless Loves, is also available from the British label First Hand Records (piano).
