Vasilis Karfis
Vasilis Karfis was born in Lamia and hails from Dikastro, Fthiotida. Since 1985, he has been a graduate of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science at the University of Athens, with a specialization in Greek Traditional Dances. He is a PhD candidate at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science in Athens (Greek Traditional Dance). He taught in secondary education as a Physical Education teacher and was appointed to primary education in 1993. From 1996 to 2004, he taught as a seconded instructor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science in Athens in the field of "Greek Traditional Dance," covering both core courses and specialization. From 2004 to 2008, he taught in the Specialization of Greek Traditional Dance at the same institution as a postgraduate student. He has participated as a speaker in international conferences, presenting scientific research papers related to folk culture and particularly traditional dance. He has attended training seminars on both Physical Education and traditional dance and music. He has participated in international conferences on dance and folk culture. He has taught seminars on Greek Traditional Dance in Greece and abroad, including: - For Physical Education teachers, organized by the primary and secondary education directorates. - In the introductory training for Physical Education teachers at PEK Piraeus, on the topic "Greek Traditional Dances of the primary and secondary education curriculum & methodological teaching." - At the Dance Society of Patras on "The use of the morphological method in dance teaching." - At the School of Physical Education and Sport Science in Komotini, on "The music and movement identity of the Cyclades" and "The Syrtos and Ballos dances in the Cyclades." - At the Union of Physical Education Graduates of Heraklion on "Greek Traditional Dance in Education," etc. Since 1985, he has been teaching traditional dances in cultural associations. He is a member of the "Eirini" Dance Group in Heraklion, Attica, and is responsible for the artistic direction of its activities. He is in charge of dance classes and the organization of dance events and special thematic presentations for the "Greek Folk Dance Group" of the Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Kallithea, participating in festivals in Greece and abroad, in social events, and thematic presentations on television.
