Ilias Tsechos

Ilias Tsechos was born in 1952 in Giannakochori, Naoussa. From 1976 to 2001, he lived in Athens. He was a dancer with the Dora Stratou Dance Theater for ten years (1976-1986). He collaborated on films by directors such as Koundouros, Zeffirelli, Angelopoulos, Zervoulakos, Psarras, Achouriotis, Charalampopoulos, Smaragdis, Rakintzis, Choursoglou, and others. Since 2002, he has been working as a journalist for local newspapers in the regions of Imathia and Pella. His poems and lyrics have been set to music by composers Theodoros Antoniou and Tasos Grous. His poems have been translated into English, German, Lithuanian, and Albanian. His life and work are featured in documentaries by Ilias Iosifidis, "From Stone and Time" (2009) and "Either a Drop or an Ocean" (2010). His poetry collections include "Desolate Truth" (Kedros, 1978), "Dedicated" (Diogenes, 1980), "Daphne River" (Diogenes, 1981), "Anthemia" (Kedros, 1982), "The Passions You Wear" (Theoria, 1983), "Voices in a Museum, Unexpected Matter, Curly Myths" (Iridanos, 1985), "Two-Story Future" (Contemporary Era, 1988), and others.
