Panagiotis Psomiadis was born in Thessaloniki in 1948. From an early age, he dedicated himself to sports and later to competitive athletics. He attended the DELASALLE School, the Anargyrios and Korgialenios School, and later the Academy of Physical Education. He served his military service at the Military School of Physical Education. He was a track and field champion in the 400 meters, with numerous participations in the National Team. He is married to Ioulia Chalvatzi, mother of 18-year-old Alexandra, and together they have another daughter, Chrysoula-Carolina, who is 9 years old. For Panagiotis Psomiadis, active participation in public affairs has always been a way of life, expression, and contribution. In 1982, he was elected as the second Municipal Councilor of Thessaloniki, and three years later, the New Democracy party honored him by placing him tenth on the parliamentary election list. In 1986, he was elected as the first Municipal Councilor of Thessaloniki. In the 1990 parliamentary elections, he was elected as the third MP in the A' District of Thessaloniki, and in the 1993 elections, he was re-elected as the third MP, significantly increasing his preference votes. In the subsequent 1996 elections, the A' District of Thessaloniki elected him as the second MP, and in the elections of April 9, 2000, he was elected as the first preference MP. Two decades later, his tireless struggle for his region and its people continues. Local government wins him over once again. He runs for the position of Prefect of Thessaloniki and is triumphantly elected in the Prefectural Elections from the first round, receiving 50.1%. In 2006, he is re-elected to the position with 48.24% from the first round. The focus of Panagiotis Psomiadis's actions has always been and continues to be the people and the qualitative improvement of daily life. Over time, he has actively participated in a significant number of social organizations, including: - President of the Cultural Excursion Athletic Association (MEAS) TRITON Thessaloniki - President of the Athletic Association PAO Diikitiriou - Member of the Pontian Societies "Rebirth" and "Panagia Soumela" - Member of the Board of the Charitable Association "Care for the Poor" - Member of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Member of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Small and Medium Industries - Member of the Thessaloniki Professional Chamber. Today, he is: - A member of the YMCA - A member of the Euxeinos Club of Thessaloniki.
