Andreas Lykourentzos

Born in Tripoli in 1957. He is married to Eudoxia Basdekopoulou, and they have a daughter, Maria Anna. Education: He holds a degree from Panteion University, Department of Political Science, specializing in Comparative Political Analysis. He attended two postgraduate courses at the same university. He also studied as an Electrical Engineer Technologist at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens. Foreign Languages: English. Parliamentary Activities: In the 2004 elections, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Arcadia with the New Democracy party. He is a member of the Social Affairs Committee and an alternate member of the delegation to the Atlantic Assembly. Political and Social Activities: Elected member of the Student Union Board as a representative of DAP-NDFK. Member of the Central Council of the National Student Union of Greece (1978-1981). First elected vice-president of ONNED Arcadia (1977). Member of the Executive Committee of ONNED, responsible for Student Affairs (1979-1981) and Trade Unionism (1984-1985). In 1981, he was hired by the Hellenic Aerospace Industry. In 1985, he followed President Kostis Stephanopoulos in founding DIANA and served as president of the party's youth wing. He collaborated as a political analyst and editor-in-chief for the magazine Information (1986-1998). He served as director of studies and taught Political Science, Communication Theory, and Business Administration at private post-secondary education centers (EEO-IEK AKMI 1992-94). He was an executive in the management of Compupress S.A. and Compulink (1994-1999). Since 1991, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Organization of Young Politicians A.A.Y.P.L as a representative of Greece. Member of the Central Committee of New Democracy in 1994, 1997, and 2001. Publisher of the fortnightly publication New Democracy until 2000. Deputy Secretary of Political Planning of New Democracy from March 1997 as a close associate of Kostas Karamanlis. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense and the Central Committee of New Democracy and an alternate member of the delegation to the Atlantic Assembly.
