Aristotelis TH. Nikolaidis

Aristotelis Nikolaidis (1922-1996) was born in Mytilene on November 25, 1922. During the Occupation, he actively participated in the Resistance and was imprisoned by the occupiers. He studied medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in psychiatry. In 1952, he published his first poetry collection titled "Gradations." In 1954, he submitted his doctoral thesis and moved to Paris as a scholar of the French government. From 1956 to 1965, he worked as a psychiatrist abroad. In 1966, he founded the International Foundation for Scientific Terminology and Language in Athens, which has also been operating in Geneva since 1973. He was also a founding member of the Hellenic Language Group. In 1967, he went into self-imposed exile in the USA and Switzerland until 1975, when he returned permanently to Greece. That same year, his novel "The Disappearance" was published and awarded the First State Prize for Novel. His works, including novels, poems, and essays, have been translated into French, German, English, Russian, Swedish, and other languages.
