
Maria Magaliou
She studied at the Department of Early Childhood Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. At the same time, she studied piano and advanced theoretical music at the Panarmonium Conservatory (Piano Diploma, Fugue Degree). She then pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom (M.A. in Music Education) with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). She holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University in the field of Music Pedagogy. She has been working as a music educator in public primary education since 1996. She has participated with presentations and experiential workshops in national and international conferences, as well as in seminars and workshops organized by various institutions (such as training programs of the Pedagogical Institute, seminars/workshops of Music School Advisors, Preschool and Primary Education, seminars/workshops of Heads of School Activities of Primary and Secondary Education Directorates). She has been involved in the pilot implementation and scientific team of the European lifelong learning programs "European Music Portfolio-Language" and "European Music Portfolio-Maths." Her articles have been published in scientific journals. Since September 2012, she has been the Head of Cultural Affairs at the Directorate of Primary Education of the 3rd Athens region.
