Katerina Karakasi

Katerina Karakasi was born in Athens and studied German Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 2001, she completed her doctoral thesis on "Franz Kafka: Josephine the Singer, or the Mouse Folk." From 2000 to 2005, she worked at the University of Essen-Duisburg in Germany, in the Department of General and Comparative Literature as a research associate. Since 2005, she has been a lecturer, and since 2010, an assistant professor at the University of Athens in the Department of German Language and Literature, specializing in German Literature and Comparative Literature. Since 2006, she has been a member of the academic staff at the Hellenic Open University, focusing on the History of European Literature. She has published scholarly articles on 18th and 20th-century German literature, comparative and theoretical literary issues, and the relationship between the body and literature during the Enlightenment and Modernism, among other topics. Between 2010 and 2012, she was a Humboldt Foundation fellow at the University of Konstanz in Germany, invited by Professor Koschorke. Since 2011, she has participated in the Thales research program "Chrysallis," under the scientific direction of Dr. Tabaki. She has participated in archaeological conferences in Greece and other European countries, with corresponding publications. She is also involved in excavations on the island of Despotiko, west of Antiparos, under the supervision of the archaeologist of the Cyclades Ephorate of Antiquities, Yiannos Kourayos.
