Eleni Kalokairinou

Eleni Kalokairinou studied philosophy at the University of Athens and received a Ph.D. in moral philosophy from the University of Exeter. She is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and previously taught in the Department of Classics and Philosophy at the University of Cyprus (1995-2011). She served as a member of the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee. Her research interests focus on moral philosophy, applied ethics, ancient philosophy, bioethics, and political philosophy (communitarianism-liberalism). Among her recent publications are: "Experimentation on Human Embryos: A Philosophical Perspective" (Science and Society, vol. 8-9, 2002), "La Philosophic morale de Hare et les limites de son application: la question de l'esclavage" (Hare et la philosophic morale, Grenoble 2004), "Prenatal Diagnosis and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis: Methods of Prevention or Forms of Eugenics?" (Progress in Science and the Danger of Hubris, Waxmann, Münster 2006), among others.
