Myrtali Acheimastou - Potamianou

Myrtali Acheimatou-Potamianou studied Archaeology and History at the University of Athens, and Art History and Archaeology at the University of Vienna. She taught at the Gymnasium of Hydra. She served as a curator and later as an antiquities conservator in the Aegean Islands, Epirus, Aetolia-Acarnania, and the Ionian Islands, and she directed the former Center for the Conservation of Antiquities and the Byzantine Museum of Athens, focusing primarily on the protection and conservation of Byzantine, medieval, and modern monuments and works. She earned her doctorate from the University of Athens with the study "The Monastery of Philanthropenoi and the First Phase of Post-Byzantine Painting." Her other works include "Byzantine Art in the Aegean," "Byzantine Frescoes," "Icons of Zakynthos," and "Icons of the Byzantine Museum of Athens." She has also published numerous studies and articles, mainly on Byzantine and post-Byzantine painting.
