Nina Hyams
Nina Hyams received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University and her master's and doctoral degrees in linguistics from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She joined the faculty at UCLA in 1983 and is currently a professor of linguistics and co-director of the UCLA Psycholinguistics Laboratory and the UCLA Infant Language Laboratory. Her research primarily focuses on language development in childhood and syntax. She has published the book "Language Acquisition and the Theory of Parameters," a landmark work in language acquisition research, as well as numerous articles on the development of syntax and morphology in children. She has been a visiting researcher at Utrecht University and Leiden University in the Netherlands and has delivered numerous lectures in Europe and Japan.
