Athanasios CH. Protopapas

Athanasios Protopapas was a principal researcher at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing until June 2010, when he was appointed as an associate professor at the University of Athens. He holds a degree in Physics from the University of Patras, master's degrees in engineering and cognitive sciences, and a Ph.D. in cognitive sciences from Brown University. He worked in the United States on developing intervention software for children with language disorders and for elderly individuals with cognitive decline. In Greece, he has developed software for detecting learning difficulties. He teaches cognitive science, memory-learning, and computational models at the graduate level. His research focuses on speech perception and reading, with particular emphasis on psycholinguistic processes and learning mechanisms.
