Giannis Dimitrokallis from Naxos, son of teacher I. Dimitrokallis, studied civil engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He worked as a freelance professional in Attica, engaging in numerous private studies and constructions. He is a member of the Association of Civil Engineers of Greece (S.P.M.E.) and the Panhellenic Association of Engineers Contractors of Public Works (PEDMEDE). His involvement in public affairs began as a board member and president of cultural associations, and after 1981, he entered politics. As a politician, he was active and distinguished in party organization and local government. He was elected as a member of the Central Committee and subsequently the 11-member Executive Committee of the New Democracy party. He served on the Board of Directors of the Local Government and Development Company and was a member of the National Council for Radio and Television. He also served as the General Secretary of Communications at the Ministry of Transport. He showed a particular interest in the fields of media and political communication, attending specialized political communication programs and seminars at the Adenauer Foundation in Germany. He founded the citizens' association "POLITIZO" and published a biweekly publication of the same name, aiming to bridge the gap between politics and culture. He wrote as a political editor for the daily press and hosted television programs with political and cultural content. He authored the books "Captive Democracy," "The Communities of Greeks," "Handbook of Political Communication," and "From the State of Subjects to the State of Citizens." In 1998, he returned to his homeland of Naxos, where he is involved in study, writing, and agriculture.
