Georgios Kaprinis

Born in Kozani in 1943, he settled permanently in Thessaloniki in 1946, where he received his entire education (A' Model of the Pedagogical Academy, Experimental School, Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). He was a scholar of the State Scholarships Foundation and the French Government. He pursued further training for three years in Paris. He ascended the academic hierarchy to the rank of Professor of Psychiatry and for 20 years directed University Psychiatric Clinics. He has a rich body of written work with international recognition and made decisive contributions to deinstitutionalization and the design of psychiatric reform in our country. In 2011, when he became an Emeritus Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he ended his substantial journey in the field of psychiatry and began exploring other paths.
