Paschalis I. Valsamidis

Paschalis Valsamidis was born and educated in Istanbul. He holds a Ph.D. from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He works as a research associate in the Department of Historical Research at the Society for Macedonian Studies. Since the academic year 2004-2005, he has been teaching the Turkish language and the history of Turkish literature at the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture of Black Sea Countries at Democritus University of Thrace. He also teaches Turkish at the School of Balkan and Russian Languages (IMXA). His writing includes studies and articles related to the history of Hellenism in Eastern Thrace, Asia Minor, and Macedonia, as well as articles on the history and presence of Turks in Macedonia. As part of his research, he conducted field studies in Istanbul, as well as in cities and villages of Eastern Thrace, Asia Minor, and Macedonia. He has participated in presentations at scientific conferences and authored the studies "The Metropolis of Metres and Athyra" (2007), "The Hellenism of Adrianople from the late 19th to the early 20th century. Regulations - statutes - accountability - official documents" (2008), and "A Practical Dictionary of Turkish Expressions with Examples" (2007). He has also published articles and book reviews in scientific journals and commemorative volumes, as well as in newspapers in Greece and Istanbul.
