Robinson Jeffers

Robinson Jeffers
The American poet Robinson Jeffers (January 1887) lived in Carmel, California, with his wife Una and their twin sons in a granite house he built himself. The significant recognition he gained during the 1920s and 1930s (he was the first American poet to be featured on the cover of the famous Time magazine in 1932) began to wane post-war, with the exception of the success of his adaptation of Euripides' "Medea" on Broadway. His influence on English-language poetry was substantial, and the literary critic Harold Bloom included Jeffers' poems in his anthology of the best poems in the English language. He passed away on January 20, 1962.
