Stephen Brookfield

Stephen Brookfield began his teaching career in 1970 and has worked in England, Canada, Australia, and the United States in various academic settings. He has authored and edited eight books on adult learning, teaching, and critical reflection, and has won the Cyril O. Houle International Award for Outstanding Literature in Adult Education three times. He served as a professor of higher and adult education at Columbia University in New York for a decade and now holds the title of Distinguished Professor at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His latest book (co-authored with Stephen Preskill) is "Discussion as a Way of Teaching," published in the UK by Open University Press.
