Giorgos Altis

Giorgos Altis was born in Athens in 1969. At the age of 13, he first picked up the bouzouki and dedicated himself entirely to folk music. He has been working professionally since 1984-85 in various nightclubs and took lessons from Th. Papavasileiou and the great bouzouki soloist G. Palaiologos. A key member of the bouzouki quartet "RAST," he has participated in orchestral music concerts at the Athens Concert Hall and abroad. Since 2001, he has been a regular contributor to the magazine "Metronomos" in the column 'Behind the Instruments,' where he features prominent Greek musicians, and he has occasionally collaborated with the magazine "Laiko Tragoudi."
