Dr. Demosthenes Akoumianakis completed his studies in England, at the University of Huddersfield (undergraduate studies) and the University of Kent at Canterbury (postgraduate studies). His thesis was awarded the 1st Prize by IBM. Both his master's degree and doctoral dissertation focused on specialized topics in the field of Human-Computer Interaction. In the past, he has worked as a systems analyst in the Information Systems sector of the Co-operative Wholesale Society based in Manchester, as a software engineer and collaborating researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, as a visiting professor in the Department of Applied Informatics and Multimedia at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, and as a member of the adjunct faculty at the Hellenic Open University. Since 2005, he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Informatics and Multimedia at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete.
