Katerina CHatzopoulou

Katerina Chatzopoulou was born in Kavala in 1979. She studied Classical Philology and completed her postgraduate studies in Ancient Greek Philology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by doctoral studies at the University of Chicago, specializing in Linguistics, Historical Semantics, and Syntax. She taught Linguistics courses for several years at New York College in Thessaloniki and participated as a lecturer in seminars and research programs at the Aristotle University, also serving as a postdoctoral fellow of the State Scholarships Foundation. In 2004, she began studies in the Department of Sociology at Panteion University of Athens, which she did not complete. She has presented papers at national, pan-European, and international conferences on Theoretical, Historical, and Applied Linguistics and has published works in both Greek and foreign languages in collective volumes and scientific journals, as well as articles for a broader audience in local and online media. She is a founding member and president of the Ancient Greek Philosophy Association "syn Athena," established in Kavala in September 2012, aimed at the study and continuation of ancient Greek thought. Since 2012, the association's program includes weekly meetings for children and adults on topics from ancient Greek philosophy, open to the public. Since 2014, the association has also organized biennial conferences, one on Political Philosophy and another on Epistemology (since 2015).
